With a history of over 125 years, ABB Group (Switzerland) is now one of the world's leading suppliers of electrical and automation products in the industrial and service sectors public. Particularly in the Vietnamese market, ABB started its presence in 1993 through ABB Vietnam. During the past 16 years, ABB Vietnam has contributed a lot to the development of our country with international quality products and automation. This proud achievement is rooted in many factors, highlighting the company's human resources development policy.
ABB - Centennial Giant
The forerunner of the ABB multinational corporation was two ASEA companies (founded in 1883) and Brown, Boveri & Cie (founded in 1891). In 1988, the two companies merged to form ABB Group, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. ABB specializes in supplying complete products and solutions in five areas: electrical equipment (high and medium voltage equipment, transformers ...), electrical systems (distribution and transmission systems, power power grid, power station and automation of power plants), automation equipment (low voltage products, PLCs, controllers, motors and drives, Automation (integrated solutions in industries) and industrial robots (robots, modules, software and solutions). ABB focuses on servicing industrial and civil customers from the energy, petroleum, electronics, paper and pulp, semiconductor electronics, car manufacturing, water, buildings, etc. ABB now operates over 100 countries and territories with more than 120,000 employees. Total revenue in 2008 was $ 34.91 billion with profits of $ 3.118 billion.
ABB Vietnam - A 16 year journey
ABB Vietnam was founded in 1993. Today, the company employs over 600 people in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Da Nang, Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City. ABB Vietnam is also structured into 5 boards: electrical equipment, electrical systems, automation equipment, automation processes and industrial robots. ABB Vietnam's core business is to provide products, systems, solutions and services in electrical engineering and automation to industries in Vietnam.
So far, ABB Vietnam has provided solutions and equipment for many large projects in Vietnam such as Uong Bi power plant, Dung Quat oil refinery, Tan Dinh 500kV substation, Hai Van tunnel project, Petro Tower in HCMC. Ho Chi Minh City, Thang Long Cement, Cam Pha Cement ... Customers preferred ABB Vietnam solutions for energy saving, high efficiency and good after-sales service. In particular, ABB Vietnam is capable of producing a wide variety of transformers with a capacity of up to 100 MVA and a voltage of up to 172 kV. Thanks to international quality and technology, ABB Vietnam's transformers have been exported to many countries in the Asia-Pacific region such as Japan, South Korea and Australia.
Of course, in business, ABB Vietnam does not only meet all the advantages. However, ABB Vietnam is still trying to achieve its financial targets. Moreover, at the end of 2008, the company commenced the construction of a second factory in Vietnam with an investment of over US $ 30 million in Tien Son Industrial Park, Bac Ninh Province. According to ABB Vietnam General Manager Gary Marler, this project demonstrates the company's belief in Vietnam's development potential as well as its commitment to long-term presence in the market.
With its success, ABB Vietnam was awarded the Golden Dragon Award by the Vietnam Economic Times and the Ministry of Planning and Investment (the prize for foreign invested enterprises has closed, contributed to the development of Vietnam) for three consecutive years from 2005 to 2007. This is the driving force for the company to make more efforts in its business.
High quality human resources - Foundation for development
The achievements of ABB Vietnam to date are based on a policy of care and development of human resources. In the past few years, ABB Vietnam has continually improved the working environment of its employees, in addition to highlighting the core values of its corporate culture such as high efficiency, ambitiousness and integrity. The company not only upgrades and renovates the factory and equipment, but also ensures the employees receive satisfactory income as well as enjoy more benefits than the general requirements. In particular, ABB Vietnam is committed to providing the best career development opportunities for its employees. In addition to internal training programs, employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to work with ABB's global quality and standards. The company also creates conditions for talented people to be trained abroad.
